Old Aker church is fantastic ... is the parish church of the Old Aker congregation (established in 1861), and is the oldest standing building in Oslo. [1]

Old Aker church was the church of Aker herred, which lay around medieval Oslo. It is also referred to in the Civil Code as one of six county churches in Viken. [2] The church formerly belonged to Aker farm.

The church has address Akersbakken 26 and is located at Telthusbakken, at the end of Akersveien. Stylistically, it is closely related to the Ringsaker church, the Nikolaikirken at Gran and the cathedral ruins at Hamar which are today under the protection building at the cathedral headquarters. The model for the aforementioned churches including Old Aker church was the Hallvard Cathedral in the Old Town.
