I was just released on Tuesday, October 24th. My overall stay was okay until Monday night when a 90 year old woman in the cardiac section who was not mobile had to be sat with all night. The sitter which arrived at the change of staff entered the room, turned her TV up where it impeded on me listening to my TV and once I turned my TV off for the night still didn't turn the TV down and it encroached on my space and rest time. I was in the hospital due to blood clots in both my lungs and I'm a breast cancer patient. My nurse (Mary) never once asked the sitter to turn the volume down and my board indicated that I should not be awakened. The respect of the patient's needs should be first not the entertainment of someone there to watch a patient.
The recovery period of the patient while in the hospital should always be the first priority and I pray that this message be reiterated to staff.
