Hotel Eastlund is clean, modern, and comfortable. The staff was friendly and responsive. Overall we had a very nice stay, albeit only for two nights. There were two major issues however. First off: the noise. On weeknights there are nearby trains which run every hour or so and will go by blaring their horns. Thankfully it seems they do not run on weekends. Anything that happens in the hallways will be clearly heard within your room. Drunk groups, crying babies, even just normal conversations will be heard loud and clear in your room. The hotel provides earplugs free of charge but it would be better not to need them at all. The second problem was the bathroom. Like most bathrooms, it was obviously designed by a man to whom it's never occurred that someone might want to shave something other than their face or put on makeup in anything resembling natural lighting. The shower has a half glass wall and no door, which means if you're attempting to shave your legs, you're given the choice of either standing under the water and having any shaving cream rinsed off but the water, or standing out of the stream and in front of the open shower entry and get blasted by cold wafts of air. The bathroom mirror is large and well lit, but the lighting is a very bright, harsh, yellow light in which makeup will look vastly different than natural or even normal indoor lighting. The issues weren't that big of a deal for our short 2-night stay, but for a longer visit they would have been more of an aggravation. But if you're visiting briefly or a guy who's a very sound sleeper looking for a nice hotel on the east side of the river this place is great.
