A potentially really lovely evening had such a sad turn at this place...
I can sincerely say that I will never go back.
I came to have a hot chocolate with my God daughter and her, soon to be, 90 yrs old father. He made an - admittedly bad - joke re. the chairs, a joke that both the waiter and us at the table misunderstood (asked for a larger chair).
When it became clear to the waiter that the request was just a joke, he more or less flipped. Dashed the drinks at our table, then the plates.
When I walked up to the till to say that we were sorry, that our guest didn't speak Swedish that well, is almost 90 yrs old, and again, that we were all very sorry - I was basically told to f**** off, "did I want to do his job?!?" and that he had things to do, so could I get out of his way.
Giving some thought to this, yes, I would have liked to take that waiters job, if just for that one evening.
I would have loved to spare the daughter of the old man the humiliation that she felt, I would have loved to spare the old man the confusion that arose, and I would have loved to say to the person who tried to save the situation by coming up to the till to apologize, that it was alright. I would have loved to show some understanding and humility, rather that destroy the one evening that that old man had got his daughter to come with him to church, and then to have a hot chocolate.
So, my review - on the surface a warm and cosy place, but probably with over worked and quite unhappy staff. Don't go there if you want to have a special evening, don't go there with any one old, anyone sensitive or anyone who you care about.
