I recently wanted to redo my identity card which had passed the 10 years and especially (in these periods of confinement and other recurring checks) because I changed address. When around 2:30 p.m., invited by the receptionist of the civil status of the town hall of Caen I went to counter D, I found myself facing a woman who, sitting in her chair, was looking at her knees or at the ground ? After a few seconds without reaction, her neighbor at the counter called out to her by her first name; this one raised her head and with the fruit of great efforts, asked me what I wanted. When I explained my request, I was then bluntly told that: the identity card was now valid for 15 years (I should have known :)) and that the change of address was not an admissible reason; I then argued that I was planning to go on a trip abroad with this identity document as soon as possible; She then handed me a document specifying the validity passed to 15 years, telling me just as badly that I will see that most countries accept it (but not all ...) and that anyway , "even if she sends my request, they will not remake my identity card"! I therefore went to a town hall a little more rural, where a charming lady acceded to my request with a lot of kindness and I now have an up-to-date CNI! The moral is that: when you have a heavy digestion at nap time and not friendly contact with customers, you change jobs: especially in a public service! A good hearer.
