We always look forward to our stay at the Sofitel, it has felt like a home away from home on trips to London. On many levels this is still true, the accommodation and facilities are great.The welcome felt less than personal. On check in I was repeatedly asked if I wished to purchase breakfast even though I had already purchased the bed and breakfast option. I had to forward an email confirming this to the reservation team to "prove" that we were entitled to breakfast ,not exactly reassuring. No apology was offered after the long phone call either. I was asked about preferences on filling in the card at check in (more later) but not about my loyalty card. Despite making several personal requests to get a daily newspaper, we did not receive a paper on any of the days we stayed at the hotel. These are minor issues but in a world where loyalty matters it is simply not good enough. I would like to however acknowledge the team at breakfast who were on point with service and quality despite the overwhelming number of people there daily.
