Micah Frink Review of FLVS

I can't begin to tell you how frustrated it makes me to read through some of these reviews. Most are criticizing FLVS for lengthy assignments, pace guidelines, and teacher reachability.
First, why did you expect short assignments in the first place? The majority of FLVS users are course recovery, which means that they have failed and are attempting to replace that failing grade with a passing one. FLVS wants to make sure that they aren't the "push-over option" that students take hard classes through instead of in-school.
Second, why would you complain about the pace options anyway? Most students are obligated to complete a mere three assignments a week through FLVS where they would get more work in-school.
Third, why would you criticize the teacher reachability at all? FLVS is an online public school district that gives students opportunities. You have the opportunity to get ahead, catch up, or substitute. Because FLVS opens so many opportunities, lots of schools recommend it and lots of students use it. How else can you assist numerous amounts of students virtually other than the current FLVS model.
Finally, I am a student. I am not a teacher. I am not an adult. I love Florida Virtual School for the opportunities it has given me, the genuine care of the teachers, and the philosophy of the company.
