Review of Painshill Park

I don't know how I'd never heard of this place before finding it by chance on TripAdvisor but I'm sure glad I did. It's wonderful. Painshill is run as a tiny charity and the workers are mostly made up of elderly volunteers. They are all friendly and eager to tell you about the history of the place, so stop for a chat as you make your way around (and please opt for gift aid - it's only a few pence extra!)
The park itself is interesting and exceptionally picturesque. We got there for opening time on a sunny Sunday and it was nice and quiet - although the park definitely filled up as we were leaving around 1pm. You get given a map which leads you on an easy to follow trail to see the various 'ruins' and exhibits. We also saw plenty of baby geese and swans which was great. It's a pleasant way to while away the hours and take lovely photos. I didn't try the cafe but I've seen some bad reviews so perhaps bring a picnic instead. Make sure you go right the way around as the final attraction, the Turkish Tent, offers exceptional views of the park which are far more appreciated if you've been walking for hours and get to finally sit down and enjoy them.
