The location, near the beaches, is nice. The restaurant and bar are nice, and have good food. The staff is universally friendly (including the cleaning staff, who were incredibly nice), the pool is fun and clean, and the games that work in the arcade are a hit with the kids. The ducks (and ducklings!) wandering around are cute. The parrots are also entertaining for our kids. The Wifi worked great.

But once you pay all the taxes and parking, it is $400/night. And for that kind of money I don't expect nice -- I expect fabulous. And although the grounds are nice, our room smelled strongly of mildew, and it would make your eyes itch if you spend any time in it. The carpet was quite old, and stained. The shower head was mounted to not point down, you could only point it as the far wall of the shower -- which meant the spray didn't reach my kids bodies (they were not tall enough to reach it). This also meant the overspray was visibly damaging the wall and door outside of the shower, but there was no sign of them caring (as the rust bubbles in the doorframe showed this clearly had been going on for quite a while). The thermostat didn't let you set a desired temperature, just "warmer" and "cooler". The only way to close the room door was to slam it, so good luck if one of you wants to go for a walk if your kids were asleep. There were not enough accessible plugs to charge our electronic gadgets (only two). Honestly, the room was more like a poorly maintained budget motel, and didn't match the rest of the resort.

The kicker -- they are afraid to raise the prices on the restaurant menu, so they simply posted a sign saying they'll charge you 3% more than the listed prices. Classy.

After this we stayed in the Legoland Castle hotel (which admittedly, is brand new but the price is similar) and the difference was like night and day.
