Wonderful place and the best spot for pictures of the bay.
Be aware that the tram tour makes absolutely no stops on its path so it's not ideal if you like to take time to make pictures like me. Renting a bike or walking is a much better option.
If you came with Alcatraz package, walking around the island or to its top will most likely take too much time to be back for the boat but you can take an other later (for a fee !).
We didn't camp here but I sort of wish we had, seemed like a great and safe spot and the rangers were super friendly !
