The Albuquerque Regency is about due for a renovation. Our room was pretty rough. The air conditioner sounded like it was on it's last leg. It would periodically start rattling during the night and had the volume of a small jet engine. All that and it didn't do a great job at actually cooling the room! The bathroom was also noticably old, probably circa the 80s.

Room aside, there were other oddities around the hotel. The pool for one was closed in July. Management later replied that it was under maintenance. However there was no sign to indicate that. The lobby is also unimaginative. It feels like you're in an old shopping mall foyer. Lastly, cleaning staff attempted to enter our room at 8 AM for some reason. We had to tell them that we weren't ready to check out yet.

The staff helped salvage some of the experience, they were all quite friendly. Location was good as well, we were pretty centrally located to a lot of sights and restaurants. Overall, I expected a lot more from the Hyatt Regency brand, hopefully an update will restore what could be a great hotel.
