Agero deserves a swift kick in the pants for ruini...

Agero deserves a swift kick in the pants for ruining our Labor Day holiday. The alternator went out Sunday evening on our 2005 Camry and we called Agero to have it towed 1.5 miles to local auto repair shop. The repair facility would be closed when the car arrived, so we gave instructions to drop the keys off in the auto shop mail slot. When we call the repair shop Monday morning the following day, the car is not there -- It was towed to the wrong facility -- an address we had never heard of. We called the mechanic at the "wrong" facility to let him know that the car would need to be towed to the correct facility, and he would need to provide the keys. Another call to Agero to set up the second tow. We made it very clear we would not be there and that the tow truck would need to get the keys from the mechanic at the "wrong" facility. Tow truck arrives, but won't pick up the car because owner is not there. We rush over within 10 minutes, and by then the tow is cancelled. We place a call to Agero for our third tow attempt to get the car to the right place -- but the mechanic at "wrong" facility has already done $100 worth of "diagnostics" to tell us we have a bad alternator (which we already knew!), knowing full well we are trying to get the car towed out. It is as if Agero intentionally had the car towed to a disreputable business, and it does make me wonder how money is exchanged between Agero, the Tow Company, and repair facility, all at the expense of State Farm policy holders. Through the entire process, the Agero representatives are nonchalant, unapologetic, and do nothing to double check information or anticipate problems. After all, why should they care? -- They are going to just stick it to State Farm for cost of the 3 tows. To add insult to injury, they initially told us the tow would not be covered. My recommendation -- remove towing/emergency roadside service from your policy -- you will be doing both State Farm and yourself a big favor!
