===PLEASE READ===I have been on FLVS for about a year now. So far, I think it is very useful and great. I know that you might think that this might be just another review that may just say that the system is great and that s it. But here is the truth. In many reviews, kids say that FLVS is terrible. They say that because they cannot truly work at their own pace, the customer service is unbearable, and the teachers are clueless. Right now, I am in Ms. Hernandez's French 2 class and she has been AMAZING and is focused on my success in the class. Now, I am not saying that all my teachers are like her (some of them are not), but what I am saying is that some teachers are great and some are not; in addition, many kids say that their teachers don t answer their calls well, here is why: FLVS teachers each have like over 100 students, making it difficult to answer every call and text; also, many teachers have live lessons to instruct and meetings to attend. We all must realize that these teachers must be dedicated enough just to be a teacher in FLVS so, please appreciate them for being there! Now, the next topic I want to discuss is that students cannot treat FLVS as some loophole to easily pass through K-12 school. It takes structure, discipline, and determination to stay in FLVS. When I started FLVS, I struggled to submit my work on time. But as time went on, I learned how to organize myself to get things done within 4-5 days every week sometimes 3 and still have a good night sleep. I know not all students can do this, so, for parents who are reading this, please help your child if they need help organizing their school schedule, and please monitor their work and pace (IT WILL HELP THEM) . Now, some of you may think I find my school work a breeze, but it is not. I spend loooong hours on each of my assignments (and I have to submit like 4 for each of my classes each week). While we are in that topic, when FLVS say that you can work on your own pace, they really just meant that you can take as long as you want to finish your work in a weekly basis. I mean, there is a set time range on when you supposed to finish a class. Do you really expect that FLVS would allow a student to spend a whole year on one segment? I am pretty sure that is not the case. Many people, do not know what it is like to take an online class. Many of them think that it is easier than being in school. However, this is not true, but rather the opposite. You actually DO MORE than you actually would do in a school. Also, I see some say that they do not like doing DBAs, since they have to talk to someone which they wanted to avoid. DBAs are there to make sure a student is doing the work and not someone else. I mean, teachers cannot see you taking a test, so they have to use other means of testing to make sure you are learning. There is nothing wrong with that. That is just how school works. You cannot escape testing if you are in school. I hope you find this review helpful and had clearify your views of FLVS.
