I have been to Kyoto a few times before but never stopped here. It was interesting to see all of the torii gates lined up representing the many donors to the shrine. We hiked all the way up to the top hoping to have a nice viewpoint but there was no scenic view. My suggestion is to only go up about 1/3 of the way to the actual scenic point as there is not as much to see that is unique beyond that. Lots of steps with incline and decline grades so be ready for that.
