Wow, just wow. Having been to a few other zoos and leaving feeling sorry for how sad the animals seemed, this place was a great change. Amazing, well designed exhibits, pretty great amenities, and friendly staff no matter where they were- taking food orders or explaining baboon ecology, just so good.
You can enjoy it in a single day, but be prepared for a lot of walking, and a lot of snacks and water- don't rush, take everything in.
we got there at opening and there was a nice little welcome ceremony, and we didnt leave until almost 4pm. Would go again today if I could.
if you live in san diego, why dont you have an annual pass?! Nice benches in the aviaries to hang out with birds.
