I can not understand many of the reviews I've read. I'm with my son now for the second time Gamescom in Cologne and have stayed both times in the Kameha Grand. Again and again to read, it is not worth 5 stars and the expectations were not met. There is no official classification of the 5-star hotel. So where that comes from, I do not know.
Already on arrival we were very friendly welcomed by the concierge, as in the last year. At the reception everything went smoothly and we got a really nice room.
Everything we used was wonderful. The spa with Rooftoppool and steam sauna, the breakfast restaurant and the lobby cafe. To emphasize here is the extremely nice and smart waitress with glasses, the second day already knew exactly what I and my son would like. What we do not want or need. So the schnitzel came automatically without fries and cranberries but without extra charge with salad; a big beer for me; with the remark "yesterday you have not eaten the fries anyway." just great !!!
All in all, you always notice how it is managed at a hotel; in this case by the hotel manager Mr. Tobias Halama. And that is absolutely true in this case. I can only recommend the hotel, here is true price and performance, even if it is not a five star hotel.
We will definitely be back next year.
