Still a long way from ready. An ad hoc jumble of buildings and, although the interlocked campuses and other facilities are in a 'public domain', there are very few facilities of any sort (other than a few seats) that make this a public place. The best use of this open space is to walk through it to somewhere else.

And as for feeling that one is in a 'Learning Quarter', pull the other one. Cafes, bookshops, cultural businesses, anything personal, social and small scale: lacking, and no physical potential for such developments. The Thinktank hardly counts: it feels abandoned and alienating.

Perhaps as the trees grow they will help humananise it all a little. I see that Aston University has taken to ivy. Ivy could have an important role across the Learning Quarter.
