Hands down, no arguments, the Ronald McDonald House is a wonderful organization. This review is based on my stay at the RMH in Fort Worth so far:
I'm not a huge fan of the fact that there is no food or drinks (except water) allowed in our rooms although, I can understand why this is a rule. I also do not like that there is only one working dryer on my side of the first floor. Also, for those who are smokers - there is no covered smoking area, the smoking area is designated where the dumpsters are located and only provide one chair for seating which is broken. Lastly, I don't like that the side access door doesn't allow entrance after 10 p.m., another drawback for smokers who are up late or are on night shift schedules because we have to walk all the way around the building (sometimes in the rain) just to get back inside.
With all of that being said, I do appreciate all that the RMHFW provides. There is a shuttle service in place for those without vehicles, even a vehicle you can borrow to go run errands. We get free meals when outside companies donate food and/or have time to come cook for us. I appreciate the community refrigerator and pantry because who has time to grocery shop when we're worrying about our little one's. I appreciate that we can do our laundry here and that we have private rooms (bathrooms included). It's overall an amazing organization and I'm so thankful that i've been able to stay here until I can bring my baby home with me.
