The ambience has several plus points, including many cute French touches and good food. But I was not impressed by the long dusty road leading from the street to the entryway, some pruning and weeding needs in the garden showcasing an outdoor gazebo probably used for performances, and -- on particular -- the dirty white canvas overhang above the tables. Ambience to me is very important in rating a place. At The French Window Patisserie, it just wasn't up to what I think of as Koregaon Park quality.

I found the menu fascinating, more for the quirky pricing than the tempting choices. A glance at one of my photos below, in which I've circled some prices, will show you what I mean. What could possibly be the reason for such offbeat numbers as Rs 286, 319, and 381? Most curious.

That said, my roasted bell pepper hummus with caramelized onion sandwich (nicely grilled) was quite tasty, and the cappuccino also good. But that dirty overhang remained a distraction throughout the meal. Hopefully, they'll find a way to get on top of that problem, and work on other design issues. The restaurant could be a standout.
