I am extremely disappointed in the quality of their service. I first called them on March 4, 2021 at 1:07 pm to begin the claim process. I spoke with Rick who gave me an e mail address to send copies of the required documents. I sent those documents that afternoon. When I had not heard from Athene I called them on March 22, 2021 and spoke to Anne. She assured me in no uncertain terms that they do not accept e mailed documents. I asked to speak to Rick but he was unavailable. I have left three messages for Rick but he does not return my call.
On March 23, 2021 I faxed the documents and on March 24, 2021, their claims department acknowledged having received them.
On March 29, 2021 I received via USPS more documents to fill out and send back. I called customer service to have them explain what information they needed as these new documents were the same documents Athene had sent in February. They acknowledged they had sent the wrong documents. I asked to speak to someone that could get the process moving and was told claims does not accept phone calls, the only way to speak with claims is to wait for them to return my call.
On March 30, 2021 at 8:40 AM, Debra from claims phoned me. We had a 9:00 Am phone appointment set. She admitted they had sent the incorrect documents and she would ask that the correct documents be sent. I asked that the documents be sent either Fed Ex or Express Mail and she said no, they would only send them via USPS.
I asked for an address to the president s office in Iowa and she refused to give it to me. She stated all letters of complaint had to go through her claims department.
This company has redefined poor customer service.
