Quite long but please read. About 3 years ago now I got knee surgery from an ortho in Ellsworth (not of which I am writing a review) as I was still experiencing significant pain and read positive reviews about OA in Portland I opted to travel the 4 hours for what seemingly was superior care. Long story short for about a year I received injections of Euflexxa and it was improved so every six months I continued with injections (although I surely will eventually require a knee replacement). This summer I went to get my next dose of injections assuming I d be given the SAME injections however the PA administered cortisone....so after driving 4 hours I did not receive the treatment I desired and had NEVER been given previously. While frustrating I chalked it up to what could have been substandard communication. Waited the 8 weeks, paid for the injections I didn t want, and drove ANOTHER 4 hours (which wouldn t have been necessary had it been done the first time) seeking what I went for the first time. This time I got the doctor who was in the room all of five minutes, a literal five minutes, and said he would get approval from insurance and get back to me. Frustrating but seemingly closer to my objective. Fast forward a month (having heard nothing) I get a bill for $220...extremely frustrating as I still have not received the care I need...being a 34 year old with two children and unable to mount a flight of stairs...I cal and ask why I m being charged TWO HUNDRED and TWENTY dollars when nothing was accomplished, and the extremely pleasant billing lady looked into it...and the doctor never submitted anything to the insurance and claimed to be in the room for half an hour, and while I didn t receive the care I d been in for TWICE the doctor did in fact meet with me and this I am responsible for the bill. Ok so to clarify. I ve now paid for cortisone injections which I didn t want and paid about $500 for that, $220 just the doctor to not even be bothered to submit an approval and over 8 hours of fuel....and I still have no euflexxa injections and am still unable to mount a flight of stairs. Should anything change I am willing to edit my experience but so far as I can see I would steer very clear.
