Plants are beautiful at Lowe's.... but at home und...

Plants are beautiful at Lowe's.... but at home under 'not green house' conditions, they gradually go down hill. The medium/soil they are growing in does NOT retain moisture at all. The baskets dry out in half a day and are stressed before I can get back to them... please address the growing medium.
