we bought tickets to a play and arrived at reception to get access. the email had told me that i would get free entry for "children" with the price of the theatre ticket. She told me that it was only under 5s. I started to search for the email and scouring the fine print on the email and she started trying to serve someone else in the mean time which i found rude. I found the small print and she checked with the manager who agreed with me my children who were 5 and 8 would be fine. She then didn't tell me that the play was in the walled garden so i went wandering off in the other direction and missed the start. also she did not give me the map for the dragon trail which you would have thought would have been obvious and i only realised it was on in the cafe when i saw other people with the trails. The other lady on reception seemed to be perfectly lovely and reasonable so I think i was unlucky! the cafe has a failry limited menu but the food was fine - there are no plain sandwiches for kids eg plain ham however they liked the sausage and chips and beans. There is no menu up on a board so I got to the till and had to make a very speedy decision when I saw the small printed out menu at the till. the dragon trail was really good and the grotto is so pretty. just a shame about the lady on reception :( I also had a bad experience before when i was a member of HHA but had forgotten my card but had my email and letter from HHA but they wouldn't let me in for free
