I have never been to a salon before, and figured that because I wasn't able to achieve the colour I was looking for by myself, I'd finally spend the money to get it professionally done. The staff were all very friendly, and the environment was professional and clean, however I came in for grey hair and left with grey tips (on the areas I dyed myself) and an uneven brown/blond/green throughout the rest of my hair. I naturally have black, thick hair. I am a reasonable person and asked if I needed to make multiple trips to get to the finished product. I also asked how much everything would cost in total to get to my desired colour. Of course they said it would depend on how far my hair would lift, etc. And for cost, they said it would depend on the experience level of the colourist. Understandable. So my first time visiting, I only expected to leave blonde. Before toning, my hair was very blonde at the roots, and orangey-blonde in the middle. We had to bleach a second time. Still not completely even. After toning twice, it was still pretty uneven, and I had various tones of brown, green, blonde, and grey. I also got chemical burns on my scalp, probably because the bleaching started at the roots and was left on the longest. The appointment was scheduled for 3 hours, but took 5.5 hours. I paid for an intermediate colourist and olaplex which is $120 + $25, but they charged me $220 after taxes. I did tip on top of that (I used to work as a bartender, so I empathise with workers who depend on gratuities), but I was never told why I paid extra. I assumed because of the amount of product they used they charged me, but it would've been nice to have someone tell me about it. I wasn't happy with it and while I was prepared to spend as long as it took to get what I wanted, there's only so much hair can take in one day. I was told I should come back in 6 weeks for them to correct it, but if I can find another place to do it completely and correctly, I'm going to cancel the appointment. I'm not likely to return here if I can help it.
