Livinthedream Review of Central Boiler
Great furnace for the first 12 years until the doo...
Great furnace for the first 12 years until the door cracked. Still under warranty so I got a new door for "free". Shipping was $150 and the door was a new "improved" design. After the first 3 solenoids in the first month, I called the dealer and he said they recommend the spring connector and 1 amp slow blow fuse for $42. Nice to inform me of that only after I burn up 3 solenoids @ $28 each. I installed these items and burned 2 more solenoids. I began trying to speak with someone at central boiler after the second solenoid. After 5 calls (they always transfer me to a dead end voicemail) and no return calls as well as several emails, I was only able to communicate via email where the representative basically said it was my fault since I must be using the wrong fuse, not adjusting the connector right, feeding the furnace wrong (hardwood ONLY seasoned 2 years)! Did you hear that last one? I guess the first 12 years I was just getting lucky! Oh, and I used to help the first dealer install these and I'm very familiar with connections, settings, adjustments, etc.
So the issue is that the draft door runs cold (95-105 degrees on a hot furnace) and collects creosote and glues the draft door shut (they won't admit it's a design flaw). The dealer smashed my old cast iron door for warranty purposes, so I won't be getting that back. It has been 2 months, $196 in parts, temperatures in the negative to single digits, I can't count on my furnace to function while I'm at work, I have spare parts on hand for when I need them. AND Central Boiler doesn't care enough to return my calls. I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY based solely on their customer service. I have since solved the problem with my own addition (2 weeks, no sticking draft door) I can't post my addition, sorry, but they are welcome to send me a check for it.
