A lovely castle with fabulous views of the grounds. Beautiful gardens and paths with many natural features and legends. The steps to the top are fun to climb. You must get there as it opens to get to the top or you will wait in long lines over the summer. Climbing to the top in order to kiss the Blarney stone does take a certain level of physical strength or fitness. Steps are narrow and with coming back down you need some balance. They do have a rope to use as a hand rail guide
Kissing the stone requires lying down on you back and bending quite far backwards. Go for it, and try it. The views are worth it. Don't forget to do the poison garden and as many paths as you can to take in the two waterfalls, etc. Well worth a visit. Large gift and clothing shop at the nearby former woolen mills. Gift shop on the castle grounds also.
