Larry Sharon Review of Tortilla Flats Bar & Grill

Historic site nestled about 2 miles from the Dolly Steamboat tour at Canyon Lake. We finished our ride and wanted something to eat b4 heading back to the valley so we travelled here. There is a grill, a small ice cream/souvenir place and a larger mercantile store. There is also a small museum on site.
We had our lunch at the grill, cheeseburger was $11.50 and pulled pork for spouse $11. Iced tea was good and refilled on cue by servers. Burger was well cooked, beef patty was tender and flavorful, fixings were L-T-O-P, fries were hot and crispy. Good meal. Wife said pulled pork was plentiful and tasty but a better bun would have made it very nice, fries same, side of cole slaw was delish. Great meal.
Visited very small museum, read a little and learned some history of the place. Got ice cream next. Wife had a double cherry cone which she loved. I had a bowl of Prickly Pear gelato and vanilla bean ice cream which was outstanding. Super creamy and tasty frozen treats which we ate in the shade on one of the benches. Really good.
Stopped at the store next for some trinkets and we collect shot glasses, double if available, to mark our adventures which they had on shelf. Couple of t-shirts later and we were on our way.
This route is a twisty turny road frequented by motorcyclists. We had never visited previously even when we resided in the area. But this visit was a kick-off to future returns. Scenery was awesome, grill was great with eclectic wall hangings for a great atmosphere, ice cream shop D-licious, store had fun items. We had a fun couple of hours here and will make it a regular stop in the future.
