Worst experience in a Mexican resort ever.

Worst experience in a Mexican resort ever.
Before I dig in to everything I'll tell why I would give this place zero stars if I could: Terrible service, rude staff, and food poisoning.

My husband and I arrived before check in this past Saturday and because we knew we were going to arrive before our room was ready we called ahead and asked if they could store our bags in some sort of storage, as any hotel does, and they assured us they had a secure storage for our bags until our room was ready. We arrived, checked in and left our bags, including my purse with our passports and immigration papers, again I asked if our bags were going to be stored since they left the bags in the driveway where we arrived and they again said they would take care of it. My husband and I proceeded to leave to Mismaloya beach for a boat tour and so on and returned to the hotel at around 5:30 pm. Our bags were in the driveway where we had left them that morning at 10 am. I tried talking to the bellboys who then passed me along to their supervisor who said I had not asked for my bags to be put away. He was incredibly rude so when I could not deal with him any longer I asked to talk with his supervisor, he told me the manager was gone for the day. I did not believe that so I went inside to try to talk to someone else. Inside I spoke to a lady for about a minute before a manager, who was supposed to be gone for the day, Cesar, told me the bellboy should not have spoken to us that way, that we were right to be upset because of our documents being unguarded all day, blah blah just going along with me so I would leave his lobby. He said they would take care of us and hopefully erase the "bitter" experience we had during our first few hours in the resort.

Well, nothing of the sort happened, we were not checked on once during our stay at the hotel. We were locked out of our room TWICE and both times it took a long while before we were let inside. All the while, not so much of a phone call to follow up with our stay was received from management. Even during our check out, the staff did not ask how our stay had been. In every single resort we have stayed in, even some not so nice hotels in Mexico City I have visited, they always ask you how you enjoyed your stay! Could not believe it.

Now about the food poisoning, first of all the staff at the restaurant is so inattentive. We were without water a couple of times during our meals at the Mexican restaurant near the lobby, I had to ask for coffee multiple times during our second breakfast there, and my husband got so tired of waiting for the check that he had to stand up and ask another waiter for it. And the retaurant must have had four tables! It was basically empty! Anyway, we decided to check out and have some brunch before heading to the airport since we were short on time. We both ordered the Carne Asada and everything was fine until we got home and experienced the worst food poisoning of our lives. 24hrs later I am well enough to write this review, in hope that the staff improves their customer service, because as our experience was, we will never be returning to Garza Blanca again.

UPDATE 8/27: I received a reply to this review from the general manager (below) asking that I contact them to the email he "shared" with me so that he may follow up accordingly. That would be great except for the fact that I have not received any contact information from Garza Blanca Preserve to my inbox or google account.
