You can easily spend half a day here. The hike up Mt. Inari was a bit tiring but fun nonetheless. Don't let the word 'hike' intimidate you because you're really just ascending a lot of stairs, which aren't steep by any means. Even if you don't reach the summit you'll still see a lot of things along the way, including several shrines, small shops, and of course the gorgeous senbon torii. I'd recommend at least going up to the crossroads though, where you can already see a beautiful view of Kyoto. You can also have lunch at the relatively large shop there, where they serve Inari's specialty, the Kitsune Udon and Kitsune sushi (both delicious).

Next to the main shrine at the base, there are several souvenir shops and stalls selling street food such as yakitori, dorayaki, and even crab legs.

Fushimi Inari is conveniently placed right in front of the exit of Inari station so you won't have a problem getting here.
