The tour and ship were very nice, better than I expected, though it would have been nice to spend a bit more time on the lake itself rather than going up the river. The volume on the speakers was too low- it was hard to hear the tour information over the other patrons talking.
There were some patrons on the boat who made the tour less enjoyable- they were very loud and would smoke despite the ship crew telling them multiple times that no smoking was allowed on the ship- they would either hide the cigarettes or put them out just to light more once the ship crew went to a different level. I can t blame the tour company for the poor behavior of the people on the boat, but the problem wouldn t have been as bad if there were more crewmen stationed on the ship to stay on each level to make sure people were following the rules and not disrupting the tour experience for the other people on board. My family sat at a table on the very top deck, where one crewman could oversee the whole level if he stayed by the staircase.
The ship s horn was extremely loud, as we were sitting very close to the speaker. A warning sign would have been nice, telling the top deck that a horn would blow periodically throughout the cruise, as the sound is much louder there than on the lower decks.
Overall it was a very nice experience, and worth the ticket price. I m giving four stars because the bathroom door didn t latch or lock, and someone had to stand outside the door to make sure no one else opened the door while someone was using it. I feel like that s a problem that could be easily fixed with a slide bolt on the inside of the door, or something similar. Being a two hour tour with both food and drink available, the bathroom facilities are an important feature that should be well maintained.
