Review of Westcott Mazda

I want to just start off by saying the obligatory, ''I never write reviews but '' here I am. Dealerships get a bad wrap for overcharging. I was skeptical. I'm military and recently moved here from out of state. I was used to the service guy back home and being female it's hard for me to trust new places because you hear so much about how *stereotypically* females get ''ripped off''. It makes me weary.
Well my car was broken into and they stole my manual. A few days later I get all these bells and whistles going off on my dashboard. Without any way to look it up myself, I call into the Mazda dealership. Having a car with a rotary engine, a lot of places aren't too familiar with what's going on in my vehicle. I ended up talking to a man named Art. In a panic, he talked me all the way there. It was very late in the day, I was headed home from work, and he stayed open just for me! Art then called Enterprise up the street and made sure they gave me a discounted price and had something to drive home that evening. Enterprise was also outstanding, but I'll save that for another review.

The next day I received a phone call with a price quote. I was astounded by the cost. I got off the phone and did some research and I felt like I was getting ripped off. I called Art back, and regretfully, I was extremely rude. I accused him of trying to ''get over on me'' *ugh, I shouldn't always assume people want to take advantage*, lesson learned!

Art took the time to explain to me the reasons why, offered to print off a price quote for me to take around to other shops and compare prices. He explained why my catalytic converter would cost so much (California has ridiculous smog laws). In contacting other shops, they confirmed the price of the catalytic converter, etc.

I called back Westcott Mazda with my tail between my legs and I apologized to Art. He was still so nice through everything. He even managed to work out a price that I felt I could manage. Despite my attitude and skepticism he stayed absolutely, sincerely kind throughout the whole process.

I was able to meet the mechanic, he showed me all the parts and the damage to them. They have nothing to hide and were doing more than required just to pacify me.

My car was fixed in one day and it runs beautifully. I was provided transportation to get my car home.

I trust this dealership and I felt really safe in a place I'm unfamiliar with. Don't be deterred to have your car serviced here just because of the stereotypes of costly dealerships. And if you can, have Art be the guy to help you out. He is the epitome of great customer service!
