We had a party of 5 and when asked if we wanted dessert we were not given a menu, just a run down of options. So I was shocked to see that the macaroons 2 of us ordered were $18.95, more than doubling our bills. We certainly should have been told that they were that expensive so we could decide if we wanted to pay that much. To add to the insult, when we asked the waitress she just smiled said "Yes, they are $18.95 after we'd already paid and included a 20% tip. We expressed our disappointment that we didn't know the price was so expensive and politely asked that in the future she either provide a menu or inform guests of the price, she just smiled said OK and walked away from us as fast as she could. I felt completely fleeced and angry at the smug response we received. I thought I'd ordered a coconut cookie, so I was a little surprised to see 6 quarter sized sandwich cookies when they arrived. While I understand the "French" macaroons are made by hand and take a lot of effort, that does not negate the courtesy of letting patrons know, again without a menu, how expensive they are. I won't be back anytime soon. I only live 1 mile from the restaurant so am just feeling sick about it. (stock photo)
