My daughter, who is 18 years old, is under my insurance and the bills come to my address. I am the bill payer and responsible person that if bill not paid, it is MY insurance, MY reputation and MY credit that will be tainted. All I want to do is PAY the $30 due but the rep would not let me. I have been in this position before and medical companies will allow me to PAY the bill just not give me any information regarding the bill. That is all I wanted to do is PAY the bill, not inquire about the doctor visit (yet I probably drove my daughter to the appointment). The law is wrong if in fact someone with the bill in hand, can not give a credit card over the phone to pay. What would have happened if I mailed in a check? It would have had my name on it and daughters' account number. Yet, I am help accountable if the bill is not paid. That's just wrong. The rep was young and needs to learn the difference between bill paying and inquiry of the visit. Bill paying is bill paying. Otherwise, they should not send me the bill if they are not going to let me pay for it.
