Upon making the appt at the wound center I asked if this was going to be just a doctor co-pay for the visit and I was told it would be. I now have a $691 bill sitting on my shoulders since it was billed as outpatient for the facility usage. Since it was literally just a precautionary measure suggested by my podiatrist I didn't mind putting out $50 for my co-pay. With not having any out-of-pocket expenses this year the charge went toward my deductible since I was charged as if I went to the ER or used the facility for testing of sort.

The doctor literally looked at my toe and prescribed a cream to apply. I viewed this appt as being the same as an urgent care and to my surprise, after specifically asking about the charge while making the appt, I am saddled with this large unexpected medical expense.

I never would have made the appointment if I had been provided the correct information and I feel bamboozled. I only gave a middle rating because the doctor seemed fine and I found the staff to be professional and courteous. I could have gone to the doctor's personal office and paid $50. To put the icing on the cake I have the $50 co-pay as a separate charge for the doctor!

If I hadn't specifically asked then I would accept what I was handed, but in this instance I am beyond disheartened.
