Two weeks ago (Saturday Memorial Day weekend) we were returning from Estes Park Colorado when the transmission on our 2000 Chrysler Town & Country LXi minivan died 9 miles west of Childress. After arranging a tow with AAA we asked what our options were for getting back on to Houston. Towing to Houston was obviously out and it seemed like a poor financial decision to rent a car and try to get the van repaired locally so we asked about car dealerships. AAA pointed us to Vernon Auto Group and at 3:30 in the afternoon we called them to see what we could do while waiting for a tow.

After some discussion we ended up with a clean used 2014 Ford Edge that held all of the gear we had in our minivan packed up tight for the drive to Houston. The rest of the trip was uneventful although I will confess I fell in love with the Edge somewhere south of Waco.

The service during this time was exemplary and is the type of experience every customer should have. While on the side of the road we discussed the used cars available, financing, model types to find the best fit for our needs. Derek, our sales rep, Martin the finance manager and Dan the general manager all stayed late to help us with the purchase and moving our gear from the minivan to the Edge.

After the sale we received a call from Ashley to ask if everything was working to our satisfaction and I mentioned that the driver side front speaker was not working. We took the SUV to a local dealership here in Houston for diagnosis and service and Vernon Automotive paid the invoice to have the speaker serviced.

I cannot recommend these folks enough for your consideration for your next vehicle purchase- it's like buying a car from your neighbor.
