Lei Ford Review of Technical career institutes

I took "health information technology" here for one semester in 2010 after naively thinking I'd have a better chance at being hired in medical billing if I had a degree (note: I had already graduated from a continuing ed billing program and passed the certification exam). Big mistake! This glorified diploma mill did nothing but waste 3 months of my time and $6000. I was able to use my transfer credits for a few classes, but the remaining classes were so pointless and redundant - it's pretty obvious that they're just trying to stretch out material that COULD be taught in one semester into three semesters so they'll make more money! Also, despite fliers claiming that you could sell back textbooks for money, you apparently only get a voucher sent to you in the mail later? (I didn't try it; this is what other people in my classes were saying)
I don't want to blame the teachers because they are qualified and know their subject; I feel sorry for them for having to teach there! It's just that the material the school gives them is terrible. Everything was slow and dumbed-down, and a complete waste of time. The administration is terrible and unorganized. They charged me $50 in late fees when I had not made any late payments. Hilariously, it also took them six months to figure out that I had not registered for another semester.
I can't say anything about the quality of other majors such as automotive, electrical engineering, etc. but no matter what subject you're interested in, I cannot discourage this place enough. These people are only looking to rip you off. GO TO A REAL SCHOOL.
