Update: I spoke with the director who seemed genuinely interested in my situation, and understood where I was coming from. She explained that some financial institutions (like the ones my father used) have very strict guidelines and do need to speak directly to the power of attorney. She offered solutions and didn't just pay lip service.

I should have gone with my gut and never hire them. They sell you on saying they will do all the work, but ultimately all financial institutions want to speak with the POA. I m not sure what I paid them to do. They called me at work all the time, even after I told them my father died. They have no empathy- just want to take your loved one s hard earned money. Do yourself a favor and stay away.
