This review is coming quite late, like all my other reviews, as I've traveled through Newark 6 times (both domestic and international). 4 times through United and twice through Southwest. It is difficult to gauge the size of the airport as it is in the packed Jersey city, but it is extremely big. I traveled from one terminal to the other via the train and the train line passes over roads in Jersey city, before entering the other terminal. The train, the terminals, the amenities are well maintained. The lines for security and boarding of international flights are very very long, no matter where you fly.

Newark may not be mentioned in the same breath as JFK, but it also serves many passengers and is a very good (somerimes cheaper) alternative to JFK. The staff here are very helpful, but look like they work overtime.

I have also used the rental car (Enterprise) service here on a couple of different occasions and was one of the best customer service that I received. I have written a separate review about it.
