HORRIFIC. They will leave you high and dry. Just get AAA. Agero takes a bad situation (needing roadside assistance) and turns it into your worst nightmare.

This third-party roadside assistance dispatcher, Agero, is used by car insurance companies (ex: State Farm) and new car manufacturers (ex: Toyota). You will be under the false pretense that you are covered with roadside assistance, but that is only on paper.

If you are deserted on the side of the road in an unsafe location, in desperate need of a tow, expect to jump through a ton of hoops that lead to nowhere. For example, you will need to go through dial-a-robot phone menus that send you confirmation emails which then send you to broken links. A robot tells you that a towing company will be assigned to you, to hang up, and to expect them to text you with the tow company and ETA, but then you never receive any confirmations beyond that after waiting fifteen minutes. So you call back and try to get a human... nothing... over and over... then when you finally get a human with broken English, they keep you on the phone for a long time asking redundant questions in slow motion of information you already provided to them eight times in the same conversation (like, "What phone number are you calling from?"), and ending every comment with, "Thank you so much, Ms. So and So," over and over, just to buy themselves time. After them drawing out the phone call for twenty minutes of redundant questions and scripted speech, they tell you they can't get ahold of any towing companies to dispatch, even though you are in a heavily populated metropolitan area. But then they simultaneously text you that they are, in fact sending a tow company with an ETA of three hours. You call back to their dial-a-robot, forever phone-hold system to verify if that is true, and they tell you yes. But then they call you back fifteen minutes later and tell you that it was a mistake and no tow is coming.

This is what happened to me yesterday after a drunk driver hit me. It took SIX HOURS to get a tow truck to me while I waited in my car. This is in the San Francisco Bay Area, a heavily populated metropolitan area that is highly competitive. What excuse can they come up with?

Then this morning, I got a call from a tow truck driver confirming that they are on the way to tow me... even though I was already towed! The tow truck driver said that is typical of Agero to double-book and not follow through with the tow companies to confirm closed-cases. What a complete mess!!!

I will be purchasing AAA and possibly switching car insurance companies.

Never trust roadside assistance through car insurance companies or new vehicle purchases. If you do, make sure it is not Agero. NEVER AGAIN.
