I work here on third shift. The pay is fine; the benefits are some of the best I've encountered. There's a wellness center across the street that can handle most of your needs for free--if you're a full time employee. Temps get the short end of the stick and are considered, as one manager so rudely put it, "a dime a dozen". Management has created operation standards for most tasks on the lines that read like a Dick and Jane book, though. Not sure if they think their employees are retards or just unable to read.
Pros:
-Benefits like decent health insurance, dental, vision, short and long term disability, AD&D, life insurance, etc.
-Decent pay
-Diverse staff--I've met expatriates from Japan, India, Vietnam, Puerto Rico, Cameroon, etc. Still a predominantly white factory, by far the most diverse I've seen, if that's important to you.
-Week long shutdown during July and December
Cons:
-White uniforms in a dirty factory
-Management doesn't communicate well across departments
-Little organization for supplies
-Part shortages and constant breakdowns of machinery; fires in building twice that I know of in the couple of years that I've been here.
-HR in particular seems rude and ignorant, while management seems uncaring of your issues unless you're a favorite
-Quota work, so meet quota or stay 8, 10(most common), or 12 hours per shift. Work 5 or 6 days a week, all 7 if your line or department is REALLY behind.
-Vacation and leave policy is unclear and confusing to navigate; be sure to request paper copy of handbook when hired and read it to avoid potential problems.
-Heaters smell like burning dust on each startup in winter, air conditioning is functional but mostly ineffective during summer. Prepare to freeze your arse off or sweat profusely, depending on season.
-Seniority based system for leave and possibly promotions (or perhaps favoritism as well. Interviews are conducted for all applicants, but the favorite candidate appears to be chosen and installed beforehand). Working hard helps somewhat, but seniority is more important.
TL;DR--RUN. RUN FAR AWAY AND DON'T LOOK BACK!!!!
