Had an issue with a whole house water softener that was installed by them about 5 years ago. Talked to someone over the phone, they sent out a technician the following day. I tell them what is wrong and what I have attempted to troubleshoot on my own. Without even touching the thing, he just says it will cost 350 bucks to replace nearly the entire top of the unit (multiple parts that could have all been fine and replaced individually)... the majority of the system are non moving parts... yet he wants to replace an entire assembly. Says he isn't even really the guy who does this and asks if I want to go ahead and order the parts. No troubleshooting, didn't even bother to see if what I said was true. I guess if you aren't paying them monthly for their service to the system, they gouge you for any kind of repair.

I ended up talking to another plumbing service on the phone, they said they could come out and repair it (parts and labor) for about 80-120. They even told me what part was wrong without even seeing the unit on the phone. Ended up having them mail me the part for 35 bucks and replaced it myself... would never recommend Spengler. I think they get most of their service because they are one of the few in the area. Overpriced, lackadaisical "troubleshooting" and insanely overpriced. I gave them 2 stars as they came out promptly... but otherwise, get your wallet ready for unnecessary spending.

Edit: In response to the owners reply. It was in November and I just got around to posting about it now. There were not "options", but a single solution given. The guy who came out offered a discount of 60 dollars instantly when I said that was too much, but it was still nearly 300 dollars for what turned out to be a 35 dollar part... if you actually would send a technician out that knew what they were doing. I don't plan on calling to resolve it. I chose to fix it myself because your prices and "troubleshooting" were unacceptable.
