I came in for service because I had a check engine light on. The code showed I needed to replace the catalytic converter which was under warranty. I was given a bill for $2100 for new brakes and rotors , an air filter and an air mass sensor. According to the service center the air mass sensor had to be replaced first to rule that out as the problem. Luckily I had just purchased the car and that dealership replaced the sensor (purchased from BMW for $150 less than they were charging me). Within 50 miles the check engine light came on again, again showing a catalytic converter code and need for replacement. now I have to wait another 10 days for my appointment. While I was treated very nicely and given a loaner car, BMW is clearly putting themselves first, recommending unneeded services at an exorbitant price, instead of addressing my problem.
