I contacted the Gold King (Marty) on Friday about selling some 999.9% pure gold bars. He began by quoting me $100 under spot. After several emails, he said he would pay me $40 under spot on Friday. I went into his shop on Monday to take him up on the offer. He then offered me $100 under spot again. It is fine if you want to only pay $100 under spot price, but when you tell someone that you are going to offer another price, then I think you should honor it. Where I am from, your word is your reputation and you honor it. Since moving here years ago, I have learned that is not the case here, whether it be a product or contracted job.

Marty seemed like a decent enough person to to deal with though.

EDITED: I would like to respond to the owners reply. I did contact him on a Friday and went in on Monday. But the gold price was higher, not lower on that Monday. I told him on Friday if it stayed at or above 1700, then I would come in.
