King Khalid International Airport (IATA: RUH, ICAO: OERK) is an international airport about 35 kilometers from the Saudi capital of Riyadh. [1] [2] [3] [4] It is the center of the national air transport system. Designed by the American Bureau of Architecture, Helmut, Opata and Kasabaum, it was opened in 1983 to be the largest airport in the world by area, with an area of about 225 square kilometers.The airport bears the name of Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who was the fourth king of Saudi Arabia. Passenger lounges are five lounges, which include three indoor lounges (two currently operating and one under development) and two international lounges connected by four connecting buildings, each of which is triple-lined with a triangular base and a floor area of approximately 47,500 square meters. Each building is 168 meters long and has an approximate area of 25,000 square meters. The buildings include mobile trails, restaurants, canteens, offices for airlines, government agencies and commercial markets. Opposite the lounges are three-story public parking, with a capacity for 8,000 cars and 3,600 rooftop cars
