Architecturally a beautiful hospital and not a wro...

Architecturally a beautiful hospital and not a wrong word about the nurses, physiotherapist and speech therapist who do a fantastic job.

But very dissatisfied with the oncology department of this hospital. The family conversation about my father was postponed several times, so we had to wait almost 2 weeks for the diagnosis of metastatic cancer that appears to be no longer treatable. After having requested the complete file, it appeared that all studies confirming that the conclusion of metastatic cancer was known from the VuMC from the first day after the transfer. I am very angry that people let me and the rest of the family sit in tension for an unnecessarily long time and that in the meantime doctors continue to mention words such as a severe inflammation instead of a tumor. I also found it very unprofessional that the treated oncologist was not even present at the family meeting and dismissed this at the ward doctor and the pulmonologist on duty. I was glad that my father had asked a nurse to join them as well, she was able to provide him with the much needed psychological support. But I really don't think this is okay that this message is brought to you in a short conversation of 15 minutes on Friday afternoon and that you as a patient or family member are not provided with any psychological support at all.

They are also inhumane here, someone who has just been told that they have finished treatment after a blank medical history, you are not going to move from a single room to a 6 person room. If something is said about it, it is said for today we turn a blind eye, how can you treat someone like that?

In addition, how my father was treated after the diagnosis is really shameful. Suddenly my father called one afternoon that he would be home the next day. There we were suddenly in front of the block, everything had to be arranged to be able to place the bed, which caused the necessary stress. If they were planning to send him home, make sure the family is known at least a few days in advance so that things can be arranged calmly and in a decent way. Even the home care workers were amazed at how quickly he was sent home, they did not experience that.

For me as a resident of Zwolle, this hospital has really come to an end. If I need medical help, I will certainly not go to this hospital if I have the choice. As a patient in this hospital you are a number / disease but the person is not seen.
