Next time I'll pay more attention to the reviews. My vet is downtown and closed on Sunday's, so I opted to go to Riverside three blocks from where I live. Since I thought this would be just a routine visit to have my dog's anal glands expressed since he was scooty tushing. I walked in and I was the only person there, no one ahead of me. They led me to a room and I waited 20 minutes until a nurse walked in. They took his temperature and looked at his butt which was a little infected.
They led me to another room and said the doctor will be with you in a minute. Again, 20 minutes later he finally walked in, took a look and said it's terribly infected. We'll have to lance it and keep him here overnight. Immediately I became very suspicious. First of all, they close at 2 pm on Sundays and I said how can you keep him overnight if no one is here? Response: Don't worry, he'll be OK. At that point, I jumped into a cab with my little guy and went to Blue Pearl Animal Hospital at 55th betw 9th and 10th where he was treated with numbing his butt so that they could express the infected anal gland, gave me pain killers and antibiotics and said he'll be fine within a few days.
Truthfully, Blue Pearl is one of thee best animal hospitals in NY. Expensive but worth every penny.
On one more note, Riverside said the visit would be $24.00. After the doctor looked at his butt and told me what he was going to do, they charged me an additional $74.00 for doing nothing.
Do yourself a favor........go someplace else!!!!
