We spent two nights here from March 8th to March 10th, 2019. This is an older, classic and traditional type of hotel. But it is quite elegant, even though it is a bit dated. However they are in the process of renovating every room and will also redo the front desk, restaurant, and the grounds. We got to see an actual renovated room which they're calling the Marilyn Monroe style. And we got to see pictures of the Frank Sinatra styled room. Both rooms offer more space, hardwood floors, updated bathrooms, yet still maintain the elegant charm. Despite some renovation already occurring, we didn't hear any work or were disrupted at any point in time during our stay. We actually didn't even know it was occurring until employees mentioned it. Now for the best part of our stay. It was definitely the people. Every single staff member went above and beyond, were gracious, courteous, and tried to make our stay as wonderful as possible. In particular was David, our waiter during high tea on Saturday. He was very respectful and kind and attended to our every need. Then on Saturday night, Juan in the bar was excellent. We had a great conversation which seemed genuine and real and I was disappointed that we couldn't stay longer to continue our chat. We also met Kim, one of the managers and she was also very kind and gracious and we really appreciated everything that everyone did. This weekend was my birthday so there were a few little extra things that we got, like free carrot cake during tea and a free drink at the bar. The beds and pillows are very comfortable, huge TV in the room, and the noise level from the hallway was good, but not great. However there wasn't a lot of traffic in the area of our room, so outside noise was not really an issue. So, kind of a long review but this place is definitely worth a stay if you're in the area. There are dozens of restaurants and shops and things to do close by, so you'll never be bored.
