My friends and I had a wonderful experience at Acquaviva Winery! We started with a $16 Sip & Tour which included a glass of wine of your choice while touring the facility to learn about the wine making process. After our tour, we had a delicious lunch of various Italian culinary delights. Some of our faves were the Don Giuseppe (red) wine, the Brianna (white) wine, tiramisu, cannoli, coconut, sorbetto, the most delicious cappuccino I've ever had, Paculo salad, pollo saltimbucco, white fish, Italian sausage w/ pasta, bruschetta, and caprese appetizer. It was pretty rainy on the day we visited but I believe they also will allow you to see/visit a portion of one of their vineyards for a photo opp. Vito, our tour guide and waiter, was a phenomenal host!!! All of the ladies in my group thoroughly enjoyed the spectacular hospitality he showed us throughout our 3.5 hour visit. Vito's parents were born in the southern region of Italy near a town called Acquaviva delle Fonti which is located near the "heel" of the boot-shaped country. They own the winery, vineyards, restaurant, market, and a 6-bedroom house which can be rented for bridal parties for wedding weekends, couples' retreats, or ladies' weekend getaways. I highly recommend a visit to this fabulous venue located in the remote town of Maple Park, IL about 15 minutes east of Northern Illinois University.
