I believe if you come here voluntarily you really need to be able to tell them what you what help wise, speak up respectfully if you aren t getting the services you need and be open to the treatment offered and provided for they have a lot to offer that can really be a huge help and eye opener when it comes to learning about your diagnosis. Treatment needed to work through it abs the skills you learn to be able to progress!
I ve had over 50 counselors in my life because of Ins. Changes, counselor changes w their lives changing and moves etc. and never got anywhere. I m in my 40s now & finally through frontier (after a few counselor changes because they moved up or left or having one that just wasn t right for me and where I was at in my recovery so switched again) was provided w who I needed when it came to diagnoses and the right treatment and the perfect psychologist And meds to be able to focus abs work on my treatment and she wanted to figure out how to help me in the right way and what I needed to be able to move forward! You have to be able to tell them if a certain person isn t working out for you and what you need if you don t feel like you re getting the services that you should be.
Most of the time they say if you don t like your counselor it s because they re actually doing their job and you aren t comfortable with them actually cutting through your b.s. and that s actually who you should be with! Other times like mine they just weren t the right match period!
Otherwise They have been very very helpful I ve been able to move forward more in my life now than I did before growing up and throughout my life and they even helped me get through my Social Security process where I wouldn t have been able to do it myself. They get a lot of people there that aren t really serious about the program so sometimes you may get that energy when dealing with them so you just need to show that you are serious and want to better your self which then reflects off of their response to you. They do take low income and people w severe mental health issues so it can be a little intimidating when going to their offices but you re there for you not them and everybody needs help somehow and when it comes to these issues no one is above another!
