This resort/hotel was very nice and fancy. When we originally booked, I had booked a king room and then a week or so later called back to add more nights and there were no more king rooms available for the rest of our stay. The staff was super nice and accommodating and changed our reservation to a special room that had a queen bed on the 8th (top) floor with a mountain view. The room itself was a little outdated, but still very nice. The bed was not the comfiest - we stayed 3 nights and my back definitely ached after waking up in the mornings (I don't know if this is because this was a special room that rarely gets booked out and seems to have been the only queen bed at the resort - or if all rooms have the same beds, like this one). The tram ride to the top of the mountain was nice. It seemed a little steep to ride up the mountain for $39 dollars a person, however that included a $20 voucher per person to the Bore Tide Deli and Bar on top of the mountain. The food at the Bore Tide was awesome and our vouchers paid for almost everything. You can also ride the tram as many times as you want for the day (I didn't know this until we were on our way back down and the worker in the tram told us this). The resort itself has some restaurants and shops located within the hotel. The restaurants at the hotel were expensive. The saltwater pool and hot tub was great - very relaxing and it wasn't very busy when we went in them towards the end of the night. Parking at the resort was okay - there doesn't seem to be enough parking for as many rooms as they have. Many times we had to quick park at the front to run up to our room before quickly coming back and leaving again. Staff was overall very nice and the hotel had a fancy ambiance. The resort itself is roughly 40 minutes from Anchorage - which was nice. We would most likely stay here again if we were to return back to the Alyeska/Girdwood area.
